The Rakutogama 2024 Calendar includes 12 monthly cards with original art by Chikako Nishimura and hand crafted ceramic stand by Waka Nishimura. Each month is an original illustration of a seasonal and/or cultural food tradition with the mingei pottery made by her husband, Masaaki, founder of Rakutogama Gallery and Cafe on Awaji Island.
Chikako Nishimura is a multi-talented artist based on Awaji Island, Japan. She skillfully captures the essence of life, the changing seasons, cultural tradition, each month inviting you on a cultural journey to explore the richness of Awaji Island.
This ceramic stand is crafted by Waka Nishimura, the 7-year-old daughter of the Nishimura family from Awaji Island, Japan.
Her father, Masaaki Nishimura, is a highly esteemed ceramic artist on Awaji Island. His ceramic work begins with sourcing clay from Awaji Island, and it takes several days to prepare the clay. The calendar stand is made from Awaji's local soil, and it is ideal for showcasing a single month of the calendar.
Due to the handmade nature of each holder, there may be variations in their shapes and glaze. We will ship one of the stands as shown in the images, including a set of 2024 calendar. Additionally, the ceramic stand will be gift-wrapped using original wrapping paper designed by Waka Nishimura and Chika Nishimura.
When the 2024 calendar is complete, you can use the stand as a beautiful card holder, a display stand for a special photo.
